What is Tennessee 511 and can it help prevent an accident?

Traveling in the winter can bring special road hazards. Knowing what these hazards are can help you be safe when traveling. The state of Tennessee offers a program that helps you know what the road conditions are in any type of weather. It is called Tennessee 511. All you have to do is type in www.tn511.com on your electronic device or call 511 directly from your phone. This will take you to TNSmartWay, where there are options for you to choose from.

This service offers real-time and up-to-date traffic conditions that will help you avoid slow-downs and dangerous areas. Construction activities and weather-related highway conditions are on the site as are live camera viewing, messages on the overhead lighting system and speed data. Do you prefer to be "Tweeted"? This service is also available at the TNSmartWay page.

The call-in system is a modern way of giving automated voice response answers to callers and it is easy to access and use. The system will ask you questions that you answer and this includes the specific roadway that you will be traveling.

The voice activated response will prompt you first by welcoming you then it will offer several options that include a highway on which you will want information, what type of information you will want (weather, construction or traffic patterns) and also will remind you to call 911 in case of an emergency.

You can get information on road closures, construction sites, weather and road conditions, where the rest stops are located, public transportation, airport locations, tourist sites and their locations and even AMBER alerts.

If you have been involved in a car accident, even though you were careful and followed all the road signs and information given by the authorities in Tennessee, you may want to contact a legal professional who can help you recoup your losses. This will include lost wages because you have been injured and cannot work, medical bills to include rehabilitation, and damage repair to your car.
