Fatal car wreck leaves 6-year-old dead in Tennessee

A tragic car accident has killed a young boy and left his mother seriously injured, authorities have reported. The car wreck happened near Hidden River Lane in Tennessee, and police are still investigating the details of the crash. As of this writing, no criminal charges have been filed.

According to preliminary police reports, a 27-year-old mother of two was driving with her two children, aged six and five respectively, northbound when a 26-year-old local man was headed south on the same road. The pickup truck driven by the man appeared to go off the road before over correcting and coming back across into the opposing lane of traffic. His vehicle struck hers on the driver's side.

The car was knocked off the road and sent down an embankment. The 6-year-old was seriously injured, as was his mother. The 5-year-old did not sustain any injuries in the crash. All injured parties were rushed to hospital, where the 6-year-old succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The mother was treated for a broken pelvis and is currently still in medical care, and there is no word as to the condition of the other driver.

This tragic car wreck is made all the more so because of the death of such a young child. Despite no criminal charges yet being filed, the mother is entitled to seek a personal injury suit against the other driver on her own behalf, and a wrongful death suit on behalf of her deceased son. These suits would be filed through a Tennessee court, and although they will not bring back the child who died, perhaps they will help to bring some sense of closure to a grieving family.
