Man faces charges in Tennessee car wreck

Motorcycle riders are statistically more likely to be injured or involved in an accident and people often discriminate against them, believing accidents are the fault of a motorcyclist rather than a car driver. However, there are many times when a car wreck occurs and a motorcyclists involved is not to blame at all. This seems to be the case as a motorcyclist recently lost his life in a Tennessee car wreck.

The accident happened around midnight when a 30-year-old driver was on the road in a Passat. The car hit a motorcycle and pinned it between the car and the guardrail. The motorcycle was then dragged along to the guardrail on the other side of the road.

The motorcyclist who was hit and pinned was a 48-year-old man and he died after being transported to a medical facility. The car driver who hit him got out of the car and fled on foot, but he was later apprehended and arrested. The man faces charges of driving without a license, vehicular homicide and also driving while intoxicated. According to police, he did not do very well on field sobriety tests and was then held on $205,000 bond.

Clearly, the Tennessee criminal charges he faces from the car wreck are serious. Despite the outcome of those proceedings, the family of the motorcyclist who died retains the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the man. If successful, they may be awarded damages that could help reimburse them for any medical bills, funeral costs or other expenses and financial losses they may have incurred.
