Another victim of semi-truck accidents: Tennessee cop injured

One of the services that law enforcement officials provide to the public is protection from those that may cause harm to them. One Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was doing just that when he became yet another victim of the semi-truck accidents that plague America's roads. The officer was in his vehicle at the scene of an accident with the car's emergency lights on. The big rig smashed into the back of his car, causing him serious injuries.

The officer was helping with traffic flow after another car had caught on fire in an early morning incident when the truck collided with his state police car. The impact triggered the car's airbag system, and the officer states that he was tossed around inside the car. The accident resulted in a broken bone and damaged nerve in his neck as well as rib and arm injuries. He states that he is unable to lie down to sleep and that he is always in pain.

Now, this father with four children must wait to heal before he can return to the job that he loves. He may never regain the level of health that he experienced before this accident. The trucker that hit him did not stop after the collision and has now been charged with drunk driving, endangerment and fleeing an accident as well as other related charges.

This Tennessee law enforcement officer probably faces years of recovery and likely physical therapy. He may have filed for workers' compensation benefits to help with the mounting expenses due to medical costs and his inability to work. However, because his injuries may be a result of possible negligence of a third party, he is entitled to file a civil suit to seek recovery of the monetary damages he and his family have suffered. Victims of semi-truck accidents or any other motor vehicle accident can seek assistance for the best possible resolution for the enormous costs that can result from these traumatic collisions.
