Summer can be deadly for teen drivers

For young people, car accidents are consistently at the top of the list when looking at causes of death in Tennessee. Summer offers a break from school and teen drivers dream of going to the beach, going out with friends and having all sorts of fun while they have no obligations. The reality, though, is that this is often a recipe for increased accidents and increased fatality rates.

Tire blowouts lead to serious crashes

Did you know that tire blowouts can lead to serious accidents? This is especially true with semis and other large vehicles because losing one tire can throw so much weight in the wrong direction. A smaller, light vehicle -- like a family sedan -- may veer slightly in the lane, but a semi can pitch violently to the side, leave the road and even roll when it hits the ditch.

The issue of aggressive driving

When you think of road rage, you typically think of drivers cutting each other off, yelling out their windows, and allowing it to severely impact their driving. However, there is a dangerous type of driving that is a step below full-blown road rage, and it's known simply as aggressive driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this has really turned into a serious issue.

Owners may say dog bites are your fault

When a dog attacks in Tennessee, it can be very traumatic, whether it attacks you or your child. Not only is this terrifying, but it can lead to an extended hospital stay, high medical bills and scars that may never heal. When you ask for compensation, though, you'll find that dog owners may use a common defense, saying that the dog was not at fault.

Deadly crash leads to DUI and homicide charges

A woman from Shelbyville, who is 74 years old, is accused of causing an accident back in December. Another Shelbyville woman was riding in the other vehicle, and she was killed in the crash. She was 66 years old. Now, the investigation has been concluded and the 74-year-old woman has been charged with reckless endangerment (four counts), driving under the influence, and vehicular homicide.
