Traffic accidents remain the leading cause of death among U.S. teens

Memphis area residents can likely recall the thrill and excitement of first being able to drive. For many teenagers, a driver's license equates to freedom and independence. Unfortunately, some teen drivers lack the experience and, in some cases, the maturity, to handle the many responsibilities that comes with operating a motor vehicle.

Cellphone use among drivers -- legal but dangerous

Many Memphis area drivers have likely encountered a driver who is driving too slowly, fails to signal when making a turn or sits at a stoplight long after it turns green. In many cases, an individual may encounter or pass drivers engaging in these annoying and sometimes dangerous and illegal driving behaviors and notice that the man or woman sitting behind the wheel is talking on his or her cellphone.

Results of study may spur parents to upgrade to newer vehicles for teen drivers

It's considered a rite of passage that when a teen driver finally obtains a driver's license, he or she will inherit some type of older and less luxurious car than he or she likely hoped for. Still, the most important things is that it's a car and, for decades, teens have been getting the most out of the old junker cars their parents provide. However, the results of a recent study may help convince some parents with teen drivers to invest in a newer and bigger vehicle for their teen driver.

Not getting enough sleep? Think twice before driving.

Much like water and food, sleep is essential for all human beings to remain alive and function properly. Many people in the U.S., however, fail to realize just how important it is to get adequate and good sleep and, consequently, these overly-tired individuals put the health and safety of millions in jeopardy.
