Tennessee driver injures passenger in DUI car wreck

Many readers of this blog know that there are serious consequences when one is caught driving drunk on any Tennessee roadway. The consequences for just getting pulled over for being drunk can be harsh enough as is, but when a car wreck occurs things can go from bad to worse. A man who allegedly caused a drunk driving car wreck is finding out first-hand just what can happen when such incidences occur.

The 28-year-old man was traveling down a Tennessee roadway with a 23-year-old male passenger. Reports claim the driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle and ran it off of the road. Although the vehicle ran off the roadway, it did not come to a halt until it crashed into a bus stop.

Unfortunately, the man's passenger had to be rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver, thankfully, only suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover. Although the driver's injuries were not as severe, he is not exempt from the consequences of an alleged DUI charge.

Police officers who attended the scene of the car crash claim they smelled a very strong presence of alcohol on the driver. As a routine procedure, the police officers drew blood from the man to determine whether or not he was drunk before the wreck occurred. The results for his test are still pending.

If the man is in fact found to have been drunk at the time of the Tennessee car wreck, he could face serious consequences for his actions. Although the passenger fortunately survived the impact, it does not change the fact that he suffered catastrophic injuries. If the passenger is able to recover, he could also choose to file a civil suit against the driver as a result of the accident.
