Passenger injured in Tennessee car wreck

Whenever someone is a passenger in a vehicle and is wearing their seatbelt, they may have a reasonable expectation of arriving to their destination safely. However, if another driver on the road is intoxicated and headed their way, there is a great increase in the likelihood that an accident or injuries may occur. Recently, a Tennessee car wreck has led to injuries and also a DUI arrest for one of the drivers involved.

The accident occurred near what is described as 90 degree turn in the road. Someone who lives nearby told authorities that there were two vehicles heading toward each other, they clipped each other and one of the vehicles hit a tree. The Dodge Charger that caused the collision was driven by a 29-year-old. The vehicle he hit has two occupants, a 40-year-old driver and his 34-year-old female passengers.

The 34-year-old woman was wearing her seatbelt but was badly injured in the accident. She was transported to an area hospital but no details about her condition were given. The Dodge Charger driver who hit them was charged with DUI and it is reported that this is his second DUI.

While it remains to be seen what legal or criminal consequences the driver charged with his second DUI may face, the woman who was injured may be able to pursue a civil claim against him in a Tennessee civil court. If successful, she could be awarded monetary damages. Those damages could help her deal with medical bills or other expense related to the car wreck that led to her injuries.
