Deadly car wreck shuts down Tennessee highway

Driving on the highway alongside or even toward tractor-trailers can be intimidating and potentially dangerous to those in smaller vehicles. Whenever a tractor-trailer crosses the line into oncoming traffic, the chance of injuries can be greatly multiplied compared to a car doing the same thing. A recent car wreck on a Tennessee highway involving a tractor-trailer proved to be deadly.

The accident occurred as a tractor-trailer reportedly crossed into the other lane as it swerved to avoid a cow in the road. When the 18-wheeler crossed over, it caused a collision between several vehicles. The other vehicles involved included another semi tractor-trailer, an SUV and a car.

Two people in the SUV died as did two people in one of the trucks. Two other people were injured in the crash. However, there are no reports of how severe those injuries may be. The highway had to be shut down after the multi-vehicle car crash.

The tractor-trailer driver who crossed into the lanes of oncoming traffic may or may not face any criminal charges. However, that does not mean that the people injured or the families of the deceased have no means of pursuing claims for monetary damages to which they may be entitled. The families or the injured parties themselves may be able to pursue a civil claim in a Tennessee civil court, based upon evidence that the truck driver negligently caused the accident and injuries and deaths that followed. Any damages they receive may help them deal with medical bills or lost wages that they have had to deal with as result of the car wreck.
