Driving this time of year can be frightening. Everyone is celebrating the holidays and is not paying attention to the amount of alcohol they consume. Impaired driving because of drug use a growing problem

Driving under the influence doesn't always mean that the driver is drunk. It can mean that the driver was under the influence of drugs. Drugged driving is a new and upcoming problem on the highways of Tennessee and the entire United States. Since 23 states and Washington D.C. have made marijuana legal it has become a bigger problem than it has been in the past. Four of these states and the District of Columbia have approved this drug for recreational use, while the others have made it legal as a medicine. There has also been a surge in prescription drugs recently.

Drunk Driver Kills Two High School Students on way to Florida

I just got off the phone with a friend who refused to allow his daughter to drive with her girlfriends to Destin, Florida for a short vacation. All of the girls were between the ages of 16 and 18 years old and one of their grandmother's would be the adult supervisor. The reason she was denied the trip was that her mother "got a bad feeling" about that trip and made her 17 year old daughter go with her on a trip to Pennsylvania instead. On Sunday, as the mother and daughter were returning home to Memphis, they got a call from my friend, who is the father of the girl and husband of the mother. He told them that there had been a car crash in Mississippi and two of her friends were killed on the way to Destin when a drunk driver crossed the median and hit them head on. Had the daughter gone on the trip with her friends, she too would have been in the car crash and possibly killed. As the summer driving season gets here, be careful on the roads of Tennessee and Mississippi. Along with increased temperatures come more people on the road and more drunk drivers on the roads and highways. If you are in a car crash this summer, be sure to call the lawyers at the Gold Law Firm. We have experience helping people injured by drunk drivers.
