Injuries stemming from violent car accidents in Tennessee

Naturally, a car accident can lead to a wide array of injuries, almost too wide to name them all. However, there are certain types of injures that show up far more than others, and it's important to know what they are when thinking about things like compensation for medical bills and the impact on one's life going forward.

First of all, neck injuries and brain injuries often happen for a similar reason: The body is not built to withstand the sudden change in speed that comes with an accident. For neck injuries, this often means whiplash. The head moves very quickly back and forth, putting an incredible and unexpected strain on the neck and spinal column. These injuries can be especially detrimental because signs of injury -- such as chronic pain -- may continue for long after other types of injuries -- like a broken finger -- would have healed.

One of the more common brain injuries suffered in a Tennessee car accident is a concussion. When the head is driven forward and brought to an abrupt stop, the brain cannot usually stop at the same rate. For example, if your head strikes a window or the dash, your brain continues its movement within your skull. If deceleration is not fast enough, this causes bruising and sometimes bleeding as it slams into the skull. A concussion can lead to a whole host of symptoms, such as dizziness, nausea, forgetfulness and much more.

Of course, injuries to the extremities are also common, especially in car accidents where the vehicle rolls or is seriously compacted. However, things like a broken arm or leg, though they may hurt more at the time, may actually heal more thoroughly and easily than whiplash or a concussion.
