Pregnant Tennessee woman may not wake up from coma

Doctors have said that a woman who was injured in a car accident, who has been in a coma since the incident, may not ever wake up from that coma. To make matters more complicated, she is around five months pregnant with her first child.

The woman is from East Tennessee, and she is currently at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Her parents are still hoping for a recovery, though doctors believe that the chances are slim. Her child, though, appears to be doing well despite the adverse conditions, which is positive news in such a tragic situation.

The woman was not driving the car that was involved in the crash, but was a passenger in it, along with her friends. The group had traveled over to Nashville so that they could see a concert. They had already watched it and were coming back home when the accident took place.

According to the young woman's mother, the person who was behind the wheel fell asleep. This caused the car to go out of control and ram into a concrete barrier. The woman survived, but a traumatic brain injury is what has kept her in a coma, which she has now been in for more than two weeks.

Even when the injuries suffered in a car accident do not lead to death, they can cause permanent disabilities that bring about expensive long-term care. If someone in your family has been injured in a wreck, or if you have been yourself, you must look into the rights that you have to compensation for medical bills and other expenses.
