Man dies after Tennessee hit and run car accident

Any time a car is pulled over in the emergency lane or along the roadside in general, there is a risk of becoming embroiled in an accident. Recently in Tennessee, a man found himself in this very situation. He died as a result of the car accident in which he became involved.

The 69-year-old man had pulled his car into the emergency lane. According to police, his wife had dropped a cell phone out of the window, and he intended to get it back. He was struck by a car after he got out of his vehicle. The man died at the scene.

The vehicle that struck him fled the scene and went into a neighboring town. Witnesses to the hit and run proceeded to follow the vehicle as it drove away. The vehicle was then abandoned. However, police issued warrants for the two individuals involved after finding them at a home near the car. They face charges of leaving the scene of an accident.

There may be serious criminal consequences for the two men arrested in this case. Aside from any criminal proceedings that may take place, the surviving family members of the man who died in the hit and run car accident is entitled to pursue a civil complaint. If they successfully litigate a wrongful death lawsuit in a Tennessee civil court, they may be entitled to damages that could help alleviate any financial strain the car accident and the loss of their loved one may have caused.
