Tennessee woman arrested after head-on collision

Statistics often point to the fact that teenage drivers on the road engage in more risky behavior or are involved in more accidents compared to their adult counterparts. However, this does not mean that every time a crash involves teens, they are to in blame. In fact, a recent Tennessee head-on collision proves that teens are sometimes the innocent victims of adult drivers who are either negligent or reckless behind the wheel.

The recent crash happened as a 27-year-old woman was driving a pick-up truck north on a Tennessee roadway. She crossed the center line with her truck and went into oncoming traffic. She then collided head-on with a Chevy Malibu being driven by a 17-year-old girl who also had a 15-year-old passenger.

The two teenage girls where cheerleaders at a local high school and were on their way to school when the accident occurred. They were both flown from the scene by LifeFlight. They are listed as being critically injured due to the injuries they sustained. The woman driving the pick-up truck was arrested and charged with DUI, aggravated assault and vehicular assault.

While it remains unclear what will become of the criminal charges against her, the woman who was responsible for the head-on collision could face action against her in a Tennessee civil court. The families of the two girls who were critically injured could pursue a personal injury suit. If they were to be successful, they could win monetary damages for the injuries they sustained in the crash.
